DON’T FORSAKE THIS ONE

DontForsake

We talked about “omissions” yesterday, letting go daily Bible reading in our personal life and together as a family. We shared how easy it is for the things of life to get in the way of keeping this mandate. Well, today I faced it myself again. My husband had to leave for an early appointment, and we would have missed him leading us in reading God’s word, prayer, and worship. And so, what did we do? We had our devotion time one hour earlier! We still made sure it happened.

Another omission that exposes itself today is the lack of the regular habit of going to church. Hebrews 10:25 admonishes us to “NOT FORSAKE the assembling of ourselves together.” We read in Luke 4:16 that it was Jesus’ habit to attend the synagogue every sabbath.

And yet I find that many Christians today attend church when it suits them. They are not committed. Where has commitment gone today? It seems to have vanished.

“Oh, it looks such a beautiful day today, I think we’ll go on a family picnic.”

“Oh my, we didn’t get all our chores accomplished this weekend. We better stay home and catch up.”

“I’m feeling rather tired today. I think I’ll stay home and rest.”

“We’re having a family get together today.”

On and on the excuses go. I don’t believe we should have any excuses when it comes to the weekly gathering together of God’s people. Whether you attend a house church or a big gathering, whether you worship on Sunday or Saturday, whatever you do, GO. No excuses.

You are also establishing this biblical habit in your children’s lives. When they see you are not fully committed, when they see you putting aside church for whatever happens to come up in your lives, they see that Jesus is not the preeminent One in your home. Nor are you teaching them the habit of meeting with God’s people.

And if they are used to their parents making excuses now, what will they do when they are older? Will they even bother about going to church at all.

Are you teaching your children commitment, perseverance, stickability, resoluteness, and faithfulness?

The God we serve is faithful. May we, His people, be faithful too.

Blessings from Nancy Campbell

SPEAK UP

strengthenConvictions

So true. The more we speak out our convictions the stronger they become. The more we speak out God’s word the stronger we grow in truth. The more we fill our hearts and minds with God’s truth the less room there is for lies and deception to enter.

This is why we must never let up reading God’s word and discussing it with our children each day. If they don’t grow up strong in the truth they will become easy prey to the devil’s deceptions.

OMISSIONS MAKE WAY FOR COMMISSIONS

Omissioncomissions
I have been sharing about how Satan subtly woos God’s people to become like society around them. He does it little by little, so faintly that we hardly know we are changing. We are like sheep, just as God says (Isaiah 53:6). Originally, I come from New Zealand which is a sheep country.

A farmer in New Zealand can have hundreds and thousands of sheep munching, eating, resting and growing their wool on the beautiful green hillsides of this country. But if one lone sheep finds a hole in the fence, it’s not long before another sheep will follow. Then another. Ever so gradually all the sheep slowly move towards that hole in the fence. It may take a few days, but eventually, all those sheep can land up in another paddock! Why? Because they follow one another. They don’t even know they are in another paddock. They didn’t think they were gravitating somewhere else. They just followed and suddenly they were in a different place.

What is the greatest deterrent to not be fooled by the devil? I believe it is the daily reading (morning and evening) of God’s word. Personally. And also as a family.

I recently read a quote from the great Bible commentator, Matthew Henry. Are you familiar with him? By the way, did you see the movie that came out recently called THE GREAT AWAKENING? It was amazing. It’s about the life of George Whitfield who also became friends with Benjamin Franklin. Anyway, Matthew Henry died the day George Whitfield was born and when he became a Christian later on, he took hold of Matthew Henry’s commentary of the Bible land took it with him everywhere he went.

The quote I read from Matthew Henry was: “Omissions make way for commissions.” Very true. And especially regarding this subject. When we let go of reading God’s word and let other things fill its place, we will easily become prey for the devil’s deceptions. When God’s voice is absent, other voices begin to take stage. I believe God’s word is the antidote against all deception.

We are raising our children in a world of deception. We must richly fill them with God’s pure, eternal, and unadulterated words (Colossians 3:16). Are you gathering your children morning and evening to hear God’s word and discuss it together? You cannot let this go. Make it your daily habit. It comes first. Before everything else.

And let me tell you a little secret. It won’t happen unless you make it happen. Everything else in your home must fit around this most important mandate.

Masny blessings to you and your family,

DON’T LOSE YOUR POWER

James4 4

Last week I shared how many of God’s people are imbibing the ways of the world. They don’t realize that these ways are opposite to God’s ways because they are more familiar with the customs of the world than they are with the Bible. Isn’t it interesting that many Christians say they believe the Bible, but they often don’t know what is in the Bible.

One devastating thing about being more in line with the customs of society is that when we begin to live the lifestyle of the world God says: “ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies” (Leviticus 26:37).

Judges 2:1 says: “And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers . . . so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.”

The same thing happened when Achan took the beautiful garments and money from the spoil of the enemy. The Israelites had just rejoiced in their marvelous victory of Jericho. They thought Ai, a much smaller city, would be a piece of cake! But no, they had to flee from the men of Ai.

The reason? One man had been disobedient to God’s command. You know the story but let’s read Joshua 7:12, 13: “Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more . . . Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel, thou canst not stand before thine enemies until ye take away the cursed thing from among you,”

If we want to live in victory, if we want to have power over the enemy, if we want peace and joy in our home, we cannot compromise with worldly standards. It won’t work. The enemy of our souls is always lurking around, seeking whom he may devour. He looks for holes in our walls where he can creep in.

Keep up your walls of protection. Don’t let go of your godly standards. Don’t compromise. Don’t even allow a little opening for the devil to squeeze into your life and your home.

James 4:4 says: “Know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” Strong words but straight from the Bible.

Many blessings,

THE SACRIFICE OF MOTHERHOOD

SacrificeofMotherhood

To the mothers of the world—from my husband, Colin Campbell
I honor all mothers today. I am grateful for all mothers. They are the most important foundational stones in the building of families, cities, and nations. When motherhood falls, families, cities, and nations fall.

Every person born into this world since Adam and Eve has come through the womb of a mother. The womb of the mother is the studio where the Master Builder of all creation designs and creates all the intricate parts of each new person and puts them together over the space of nine months.

Every newborn baby must be cradled and nurtured in the arms of a loving, caring, and devoted mother. If not, that baby will suffer emotionally and nervously which will negatively affect their whole life.

MOTHERHOOD IS AN ANCHOR

Mothers are the anchors of the home. Without a mother the home has no anchor. Home and motherhood and synonymous terms.

MOTHERHOOD SURPASSESS ALL OTHER CAREERS

Motherhood is more than just a role to be performed, more than a duty or obligation. It is a high and elevated career, a ministry appointed by God. As far as God is concerned, motherhood surpasses all other careers.

MOTHERHOOD IS THE FOUNDATON

Motherhood is the foundation of the nation. And “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3).

MOTHERHOOD REVEALS THE IMAGE OF GOD

Motherhood is revealed in one of the names of God, El Shaddai, which pictures God as a nursing and nurturing mother, the Breasted One. The mothers who nurse their babies and rock cradles rule the world.

Motherhood is uniquely and innately given to women. It is involved in the creating of life in the image of God, life that is destined for eternity.

MOTHERHOOD IS SACRIFICIAL

Motherhood is a very sacrificial role. Motherhood is the laying down of one’s life so that families, cities, and nations will be built. God designed it to come out of homes where mothers have caught the vision of homemaking and family building.

The sacrifice of love,
the sacrifice of nurturing,
the sacrifice of faithfully training and teaching,
the sacrifice of sleepless nights, and
the sacrifice of loving tears . . .
all come through the heart of true mothers.

The devil wants to destroy motherhood. But . . .
We exalt motherhood.
We elevate motherhood.
We praise, honor, and applaud motherhood.
We speak up and stand up for motherhood.
We push back every negative voice that comes against motherhood.

Be blessed today, mothers.

WHERE WOULD WE BE WITHOUT YOU? WE WOULD NOT BE HERE!

BLESSED MOTHER’S DAY

BlessedMothersDay

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to you today, dear mother. May you be blessed and encouraged today. You may feel insignificant and worthless, but I want to remind you today that you blessed to be commissioned by God to the greatest career in the nation. There is no greater career than motherhood. God calls it an exalted career (Ezekiel 19). He likens it to the highest tree in the forest.

You have great influence. You determine the course of the nation. You train and shape the children of the nation. Therefore, you determine what it will be like. That’s why the devil seeks to deceive women and woo them out of the home. He is afraid of mothers who know their anointing and power to raise godly children who will come forth to raise up the standard of righteousness and destroy the works of the devil. It is mothers who have the power to make the nation strong or weak, godly or ungodly.

Think of all the amazing things that have happened, are happening, and will happen in this world—the remarkable inventions, the amazing feats both intellectually and physically, the astounding advancements, and the brilliant discoveries. None of them happens on their own. Every single thing happens through a mother! More significantly, the womb of a mother. Without the womb NOTHING happens in this world. It all comes to a halt. Every person comes forth from a womb. What a privilege and responsibility God has given to you.

No wonder those who do not fear God are scared of the womb. They cannot even say what is a woman. Or more truthfully, they are too scared to acknowledge it because it means acknowledging that women have a womb! It means acknowledging the welcoming of children and motherhood which they reject.

More than at any other time in history, it is time to rise up and speak the truth. It is time to honor motherhood. It is time to reject the lies of our humanist society.

Mother, you not only determine the state of a nation. You influence the coming generations, not only your children, but your grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and generations to come.

You also influence eternity. Every other career is temporary, but motherhood counts for eternity.

Every child you bring forth from your womb is an eternal soul. You are preparing souls for eternity. It is the most lasting thing you can do on this earth.

I know there are some mothers who have not been able to bring forth children, but you are no less a mother. The full understanding of motherhood is the revelation of God’s nurturing heart to the world. God has put within every mother (whether she has birthed children or not) a nurturing anointing.

Motherhood is embracing this anointing with all our hearts. We embrace it to fully mother the children God gives us. But we also embrace it to pour out our hearts to the needy and hurting in society. Motherhood is sacrificial. It denies our own flesh to minister to the needs of others. It is laying down our life to save it (Mark 8:35). Every woman (with her hands full of children or childness) is born to embrace this motherhood anointing to bless the world.

Be encouraged today mother. Live in the fullness of motherhood. This is who God created you to be. You are physically created to mother. You are innately anointed to mother. To deny your nurturing instinct is to deny who you are as a woman.

Be all that God wants you to be.
Be blessed.
Be inspired and encouraged.
Be strengthened in your vision.
And may you be spoilt today.

Many blessings to you today from Nancy Campbell

MINGLED OR SEPARATED?

Mingles Separated

I read today in Psalm 106:34, 35: “They (the children of Israel) did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them. But were MINGLED among the heathen, and LEARNED their works.”

God did not want His people to mingle with the nations and the ungodly people around them. He created them to be a separated people UNTO HIMSELF. But sadly, instead of being separated unto God, they began to live like the people around them. And as they did, they began to imbibe their ways. They even began sacrificing their children to idols “and the land was polluted with blood” (Psalm 106:37-39).

My heart grieves as I see many who call themselves Christians living more in line with the world than with God’s word. There are those who confess they believe in God and yet commit abortion (which is murder). A majority of the church no longer stand with God regarding life. There are those who may not believe in abortion, and yet they destroy or deny life through birth control. How many of the Christian church are on the Pill, mostly for convenience or because they don’t want more children? And yet the Pill, scientifically proven, allows abortion to take place in many instances. We have learned the ways of the heathen rather than sticking to God’s eternal word.

When we look around at the church, even in church services, it is often hard to believe we are in a Christian environment. Women are dressed provocatively, low cut dresses, short and tight dresses, tight pants, jeans with bare knees, and sometimes even shorts in the house of God! And sometimes even leading the worship. Help! It doesn’t look slightly like holiness “without which no man will see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14). It looks the opposite.

And what about wedding dresses? Even Christian girls wear strapless, low cut wedding dresses that show cleavage! But we have mingled so much with the world that we think it is the norm.

People who confess they are believers spend more time on social media (and often looking at very doubtful stuff) than they ever do reading God’s eternal word. They spend far more hours seeking out the ways of the world around them than seeking God’s ways.

Dear precious mothers, my heart is grieved. And yet, there is a mother in every family. What are we doing to teach our children a biblical world view? Do all our children have a strong biblical world view on all subjects or are they living by a humanist/worldly world view?

Many blessings from Nancy Campbell

A MOTHER IS A DIVINELY PREPARED CHALICE

MotherChalise

The first woman, the prototype for all women, was named Eve. Eve in Hebrew means LIFE GIVER. We as women have the greatest privilege from God to be able to bring forth LIFE, a life to bless our family, to bless this world, and ultimately to enjoy eternity with God forever. We cooperate with God to bring forth an eternal soul. What else on this earth could be more powerful?

Dear mother, embrace with all your heart the glory of who you are and who God created you to be. Don’t listen to the lies of this world that come from the devil who hates life and seeks to destroy it.

We are the opposite! We are LIFE GIVERS.

A DINNER LOVE AFFAIR

DinnerLoveAffair

This is the full quote from the book which is shortened in the movie to “Make every meal a love affair.”

I love this vision for the family meal table. It is easy for meal times to be boring, ordinary, or even chaotic. But they don’t have to be that way if you have a vision.

Seek to make every meal into a love affair to bless your family. It’s not only the food but the ambience and the things you plan to talk about at the table and the different things you add to make each person feel special. Dream about it. Think ahead of lovely things you can do.

Have a wonderful time at your meal table this evening.

NATIONAL SUICIDE AND THE DEATH OF THE FAMILY

DeathofFamily
NATIONAL SUICIDE AND THE DEATH OF THE FAMILY
Two Competing Narratives

The following article, a VERY IMPORTANT read, is by Darrow Miller, the author of THE GRAND DESIGN which is currently on sale at aboverubies.org.

I. Why Should We Be Surprised?
Ideas have consequences — and nowhere is this truth more starkly visible than in the demographic collapse now unfolding across the United States. The nation’s fertility rate has fallen to 1.57, the lowest recorded figure in American history, well below the 2.1 replacement threshold required to sustain a stable population. This is not a statistical curiosity. It is the arithmetic of civilizational decline. Yet many observers profess surprise. They should not. The trajectory of this decline has been visible for decades, written into the intellectual and cultural choices the nation has made about the meaning of life, womanhood, and the family.

A civilization does not stumble into self-destruction by accident. It is led there — step by deliberate step — by the ideas it chooses to embrace and the ones it chooses to abandon. The United States is in the process of committing what can only be described as national suicide: a slow, voluntary extinction driven not by war or plague, but by a set of assumptions about the nature of humanity and the value of human life that have displaced the worldview upon which this nation was founded.

II. The Arc of American Fertility
American fertility rates reached their zenith in the 1950s, when the post-war Baby Boom reflected a culture that still broadly affirmed marriage, family, and the bearing of children as central goods of human life. Since that high-water mark, the rate has declined with remarkable — and troubling — consistency. The question demanding an answer is not merely statistical but philosophical: Why? What changed?

The answer lies in a contest between two fundamentally incompatible worldviews: the Judeo-Christian narrative, which animated Western civilization for two millennia, and the naturalist narrative, which has progressively displaced it over the past century.

The Judeo-Christian Narrative
The Judeo-Christian tradition begins with a claim of cosmic significance: God exists, and He created the universe with intention and purpose. Within that creation, human beings hold a unique and exalted place. Made in the image of God — what the Hebrew tradition calls the imago Dei — men and women alike bear a dignity that is not conferred by society, not earned by productivity, and not measured in market value. This dignity is intrinsic and inalienable, rooted in the act of divine creation itself.

Within this framework, the distinction between male and female is not incidental but designed. Man and woman are equal in dignity before God, yet gloriously and purposefully distinct in their natures and capacities. The Hebrew name for woman — Chavvah, most commonly rendered in English as Eve — carries a meaning both simple and profound: Life-Giver. In the Judeo-Christian understanding, the woman bears a capacity that no man can replicate: the ability to conceive, carry, give birth to, and nurture new human life. This is not a limitation imposed upon her, but an extraordinary gift — a participation, on the human plane, in the very act of creation that belongs supremely to God Himself.

An earlier generation of feminist thinkers understood and celebrated this truth. The so-called Maternal Feminists of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries argued powerfully for the full equality of women — not by erasing the distinctions between the sexes, but by insisting that what women uniquely could do was not a source of shame or subordination, but of honor and cultural authority. Women were to be celebrated both as equal bearers of the imago Dei and as those uniquely entrusted by design with the gift of life. Their difference from men was not a deficiency; it was a distinction of the highest order.

The Naturalist Narrative
Against this stands the naturalist narrative, which holds that there is no Creator, no transcendent reality, and no intrinsic purpose embedded in the universe or in human life. In this view, the cosmos is the product of blind material processes operating over vast stretches of time, and humanity is simply one outcome among many — no more inherently significant than any other arrangement of matter. One of my university professors stated this conclusion with memorable bluntness: human life has no more ultimate value than to serve as fertilizer for a tree. This is not a fringe position within naturalism. It is its logical endpoint.

The naturalist framework organizes human value around survival of the fittest and, in its contemporary expression, around participation in the economic marketplace. A person’s worth, in this materialist account, is measured by what they produce and how much they earn. The home, the family, the bearing and raising of children — activities that generate no GDP and appear on no balance sheet — are implicitly devalued. Against this backdrop, Modern Feminism, in its second and subsequent waves, emerged as a movement that — however well-intentioned in many of its particular goals — was philosophically rooted in naturalist and atheistic assumptions.

The pivotal cultural moment is usually dated to 1963, with the publication of Betty Friedan’s The Feminine Mystique. Friedan’s work gave popular and compelling expression to the idea that women were unfulfilled by domestic life, and that true liberation lay in access to the professional marketplace. Whatever its merits as a diagnosis of genuine frustrations, the book’s underlying framework was unmistakably naturalist: it measured women’s worth by the same material and economic standards that naturalism applies to everyone. In doing so, it did not elevate women — it invited them to compete for what the materialist worldview already offered men: a definition of human dignity measured in wages and titles.

The connection between this philosophical shift and the fertility rate is not coincidental. As the arc of American birth rates plainly illustrates, the sustained decline began precisely as these Second Wave Feminist ideas — rooted in the atheist paradigm — were absorbed into mainstream culture. Most consequentially, the Judeo-Christian principle of the right to life was progressively displaced by the principle of a woman’s right to choose. Whatever one’s view of the policy debates, the philosophical substitution is clear: a framework grounded in the sanctity of life was replaced by one grounded in individual autonomy defined in opposition to that life.

III. Reversing the Decline: A Return to First Principles
If the United States is to reverse the demographic suicide it is presently committing, the answer will not be found in tax incentives or immigration policy alone — though such measures may play a supporting role. The crisis is, at its root, a crisis of ideas, and it demands a response at the level of ideas. What is required is nothing less than a recovery of the Judeo-Christian vision of the human person: a renewed celebration of the imago Dei in both its equality and its distinction, and a cultural rehabilitation of the maternal vocation as one of the most profound expressions of that divine image.

The Maternal Feminists of the early twentieth century offer a more useful model than is commonly recognized today. They fought for the dignity and equality of women while honoring — rather than disparaging — women’s unique capacity to give life. They understood that a civilization that treats motherhood as a burden to escape and childbearing as an obstacle to human flourishing has confused the means with the ends. Material prosperity is not the measure of a well-lived life. The life that is given, nurtured, and raised to contribute to the next generation is among the most significant things any human being can accomplish.

We should not be surprised by the fertility rate of 1.57. We should be alarmed by it — and we should be clear-eyed about its causes. The road back runs through the recovery of a worldview that takes both the dignity of women and the sanctity of life seriously. It runs through the family. And it begins with the recognition that ideas, once they take root in a culture, bear fruit — for good or for ill — across generations.

WHICH ONE?

WhichOne

The mother strode into the doctor's office carrying a bright and beautiful baby. Seating herself near her family physician, she said, “Doctor, I want you to help me with my problem. My baby is only one year old and I’ve conceived again. I don’t want to have children so close together.”

“Ah,” he said, “and what would you have me do?”

“Oh, anything to get rid of it for me,” she replied,

After thinking seriously for a moment, the doctor said, “I think I can suggest a better method of helping you out. If you object to two children so near together, the best way should be to kill the one on your lap and let the other one be born. It is easy to get at the one on your lap and it makes no difference to me which one I kill. Besides, it might be dangerous for you if I undertook to kill the younger one.”

With that, the doctor reached for a knife and casually asked the mother to lay the baby on her lap and turn her head.

Not surprisingly, the woman almost fainted as she leaped from the chair and screamed, “Murder!”

A few words of explanation from the doctor soon convinced the woman that his offer to commit murder was no worse than her request for him to destroy her unborn child. In either case, the act would be murder — the only difference would be the age of the victim.

THE WORDS YOU UTTER...

 WordYouUtter

Let Me Introduce . . .

The words that you utter, the words that you blend,
Will make your child that way to the end.
How do you introduce your children to friends?
“Well, then,” you say, “It all depends . . .”

“This is our oldest, our steady John,
He’s so reliable to lean upon,
His reports at school need gazing on,
He’ll be a fine young man, will my son John!

But this is our second, his name is Paul,
He is lanky, and skinny, and tall,
Just like his dad with no brains at all,
Was a dreadful baby, the slowest to crawl!

And now here is Cindy, our blonde cutie.
She is my favorite, and such a wee beauty,
She is always obedient, and does all her duties,
Is always good, not like Paul, who is so snooty.

And here is our interesting Anthony Roy,
He is such a strange little boy,
Lacks affection and breaks every toy,
(But then, we never planned on Anthony Roy)!”.

Which of these children will feel mother’s love?
Yet each was planned for by God above.
How much better for this mother to say—
“Come and meet my children today . . .

This is John and Anthony Roy,
And this is Paul, our tallest boy,
And here with the tea is Cindy Joy.”

I know I’ve made mistakes and want you to know
When we make mistakes, we reap what we sow.
But now I realize as my children get older,
I must apologize and lots of blame shoulder.

Each one of our children has good and bad ways,
So don’t let them hear you at any time say,
The bad things they did, yesterday or today,
But be kind and loving and just see if it pays!

GOD LOOKS FOR GODLY OFFSPRING

Lotsobabies

The devil is scared of the godly seed coming into the world. The devil wants the heathen to fill the world.

God wants the earth to be filled with His image and likeness. The more children we bring into this world and raise for God the more of His righteousness will be revealed and we know that righteousness exalts a nation (Proverbs 14:34)!

Sadly, Satan has deceived God’s people from having more children and we are reaping the consequences!

God looks for godly offspring in every Christian marriage (Malachi 2:15).

Are you responding to the first mandate God gave to man?

A TREASURE HOME

TreasureHome

Proverbs 15:6 tells us: “In the house of the righteous there is much treasure.” I believe this is talking about much more than gold, silver, elaborate décor and “stuff”!

What is a treasure home? I believe it is . . .

A home where God is honored above all.

A home where the wife is honored and blessed by her husband.

A home where the wife is in the “heart of her home” because her husband provides for her so she can nurture the children God so graciously gives to the home.

A home where babies and children are welcomed, loved, and nurtured.

A home where love, joy, peace, singing, laughter, and happiness reigns day after day.

A home where the husband is honored and respected as the head of the home.

A home where the family sit around their table for meals, a place of exhilarating discussion and dialogue.

A home where everyone feels the anointing of love.

A home where love and unity are embraced.

A home where everyone is encouraged rather than discouraged.

A home that is filled with sweet, kind, loving, and affirming words.

A home where the Scriptures are read daily, morning and evening.

A home where the family prays together morning and evening.

A home of praise and worship.

A home of hospitality where all are welcomed—all that Jesus sends along.

Psalm 128:3 (NKJV): Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the very heart of your house, your children like olive plants all around your table.”

Proverbs 24:3, 4: “Through wisdom is a house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.”

Make your home a treasure home, filled with “precious” riches.

HOME, SWEET HOME

HmSweetHm

Lord, please bless our home, sweet home,
Grant it love and cheer;
May the folks You bring to us,
Feel Your presence here.

Cast out thoughts of wrath and hate,
Cause all strife to cease;
Clear the air of fear and doubt,
Fill each room with peace.

If we stray from off the path,
Lead our steps aright;
Walk with us through each new day,
Hold us close at night.

May Your angels watch o'er us,
As we go down life's road;
Please make Yourself at home,
Dear Lord, abide in our abode.

Take This Child

TakeThisChild

“Take this child and nurse it for me” –
So King Pharoah’s daughter spake
To the mother whose whole being,
For her little one did ache.

So God speaks to every mother
At her helpless infant’s birth:
“Take this child and nurse it for Me,
During all its life on earth.”

“Take this child, to Thee I trust it;
It from Thee must learn the way,
Through the earthly darkness round it,
To the light of heavenly day.”

“Take this child – and Mother ponder!
Yonder heaven is pure and fair:
Wouldest thou be amidst its number
And thy little one not there?”

“Oh, then train it, gently, wisely,
All its Saviour’s love to feel;
And, where sin has cast its shadow,
Teach it Christ has power to heal.”

“Take this child, this richest blessing,
Given to the earthly home;
Take this child, and nurse it for Me
Till to seek Mine own I come.”

~ Harriet Agnes McNair, 1865

“Lo children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward” (Psalm 127:3).

THEY’RE IMITATING ME!

ImitatingMe

There are little feet that follow
In my footsteps every day,
Their little voices echo
So much of what I say.

Sometimes I’m not too happy
With all the things I see,
Then I began to realize
That they’re imitating me!

My patience seems to falter
And I speak with too much haste –
‘Til I hear the Savior speaking
When I look into each face.

Oh God, please grant me wisdom
As I train each little one,
Help me set a good example
As You yourself have done.

I would not ask for riches
Or that they famous be,
But may each find Christ as Savior
And live each day for Thee.
