Yes, it is the father's responsibility to lead in Family Devotions. However, it is the mother who prepare the way. A wonderful time to have family Bible reading together is when we have gathered all our family to the meal table. It is easy to get them there to eat. But the table is not only a place to feed the physical body, but also the soul and the spirit. Unless we feed the whole person, our children leave the table starving spiritually.

To make this happen, it takes thought and time and effort from the mother. We prepare a nutritious and aroma-filled meal. We set an enticing table that draws the family. We think about subjects to talk about. As everyone eats, communicates, and fellowships together oxytocin is released and calms the soul. We are ready for finishing up the meal by feeding the spirit. We don't let anyone leave the table until Father reads from God's Word, and we pray, and worship.

I have found by experience that it is best not to even clear the table. Once children get up to clear the table, it breaks the atmosphere and it is so hard to get them back. So don't let them go. No one notices the dishes on the table.
You play a big part in making this happen, dear mother.

Many blessings today,
